Excel 2010 Workbook Parts

Workbook Types

There are many types of workbooks within Excel. Each workbook serves different purposes and certain workbooks can not be opened in previous versions of Excel.

Workbook Window

Each workbook in Excel has one window by default. Users can create more windows of the same workbook to view data in multiple areas of the same workbook at the same time.

Workbook Menu

The workbook menu allows users to restore, move, size, minimize, maximize and close the workbook window.

Workbook Title Bar

The workbook title bar displays the name of workbook by default.  The workbook title bar can display other values as well. If the workbook window is maximized then this will become a part of the application title bar.

Workbook Toolbox

The workbook toolbox allows the users to minimize, restore or maximize, and close the workbook window. This toolbox will be located on the ribbon when the workbook window is maximized.

Worksheet Arrows

The worksheet arrows are used to navigate through the worksheet tabs.  These arrows can be useful if you have a lot of worksheets within your workbook.

Active Sheet Tab

The active sheet tab is simply the worksheet tab of the worksheet that is currently displayed within the workbook window.

Worksheets Tabs

The worksheets tabs are a collection of selected tabs, that once selected can be used to display the selected worksheet in the active workbook window.

Insert Worksheet Tab

The insert worksheet tab will add a new blank worksheet to the end of the worksheets tabs.

Worksheet Tabs Re-sizer

The worksheet tabs re-sizer will adjust the amount of worksheet tabs that are displayed left to right.
